new york city trip with teenage girls!

My daughter and her friend had just finished 8th grade and they had been begging to go to NYC for a weekend trip. The friends mother and I thought this was a great way to celebrate the girls before heading off to high school, plus they still don't mind spending time with us (lol!!)

Here was our NYC adventure (in detail - with transportation hints!)

DAY 1:

11:00 a.m - Arrived into NYC Laguardia

Had arranged a car service, Carmel Limo, to pick us up. This was very easy and made the girls relaxed not having to take a taxi or the subway their first time into the city. The Limo service was prompt and on time.

1:00 p.m. - Checked into the Westin Times Square. Great hotel with a wonderful location in the heart of Times Square. The price was reasonable and breakfast was included. This is not common in NYC, so it was nice to not worry about paying for breakfast. Another bonus of the hotel was that a Starbucks is located at the base of the hotel. Teenage girls and their moms love Starbucks!

2:00 p.m - Grabbed a quick lunch at a sweet French restaurant around the corner. Perfect Insta pics for the girls.

3:30 p.m. Purchased tickets for the BUS tour for 2 days plus the night tour. If you purchase these through the Westin at the concierge desk they are buy one get one free! Great deal!!

4:00 p.m - Jumped on the bus for the lower loop tour to check out the city. The bus pick up is right outside the hotel. The girls loved checking out NYC from the top of the bus and of course great Insta pics.

5:00 p.m. - We got off at the Battery Bus stop to see the Statue of Liberty. We then purchased a Metro one way pass to have the girls experience the subway. We had downloaded the Metro app to help navigate the subway. Download this app before you go.

6:00 pm. - Got off the Subway by our hotel and enjoyed vendor food - which is located on every corner in NYC. Freshened up and headed out for the night time bus tour.

7:00 p.m. - Hopped on the night tour bus loop. This was a fantastic way to see the city at night. It even takes you over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn. Highly reccommend the tour.

10:00 - Time to rest up for day 2!

DAY 2:

Breakfast at the Hotel

9:00 a.m - Hopped back on the bus for the upper loop tour.

11:00 a.m. - Got off at The Met Stop and toured The Met and then walked down Madison Avenue ( enjoyed the shops! Girls took pictures in the Kate Spade store - make sure to check it out). Stopped in Tiffany and Co. and purchased a silver keepsake for the girls. Went into the Plaza Hotel and enjoyed looking around.

12:00 p.m. - Headed into Central Park - walked a little bit around but decided a pedicab was the way to see the park. Highly recommend this!!! The girls loved it and gave us a break from our feet.

2:00 p.m. - Have the Pedicab drop you off at Tavern on the Green. Late lunch at the bar ( no reservations needed)

4:00 p.m. - Headed back to the hotel by subway and rested up for our Broadway Show!

6:30 p.m. - Walked to the theater to see Mean Girls. This was a great first time show for the girls! Light and funny!

9:30 p.m. - Quick dinner at a diner around the corner from the show.

10:30 p.m. - Grabbed a cab (use the Curb app) and headed to the Empire State Building. They are open until 2:00 a.m. - no lines and a great time to go.

12:00 a.m. - Took a cab back to the hotel - no need to ride the subway at night.

DAY 3: -

Breakfast at the Hotel

8:00 a.m. - Walked to Rockefeller Center to watch the Today show. Even got on camera!

10:00 a.m. - Took a cab (honestly, we were tired of all forms of public transportation!) to Chelsea Market and the Highline. Enjoyed roaming around and truly enjoying the NYC life. Grabbed a quick lunch at a local salad restaurant and cookies at Milk Bar.

3:00 p.m. - Headed back to the hotel by subway and rested before dinner.

7:00 p.m. - Took a cab to Little Italy for a fabulous Italian Dinner at BBBBBB. Great food and lovely atmosphere.

9:00 p.m. Headed back to the hotel by cab. I reccommend taking the cabs at night. The girls felt more comfortable and less walking for us moms.

DAY 4: -

Breaksfast at the Hotel

9:00 a.m. - Carmel Limo Service picked us back up and we headed for the airpot.

This was a fabulous quick trip to NYC. The girls enjoyed it and want to go back! I wouldn't have changed a thing in our itineray. Please email me if you have any questions!
